Hallow
Hollow captures the experience of carrying an emptiness within—something missing, lost, broken, or difficult to reach. At the center of the figure is an open space with a suspended heart, creating a powerful contrast between what is visible on the outside and what is being carried within.
One side reveals a whole heart, while the other reveals a broken heart—holding two experiences within the same piece. Love and loss. Connection and heartbreak. Wholeness and brokenness. The open space surrounding the heart can also represent numbness, loneliness, grief, abandonment, disconnection, or the feeling that something essential is missing.
In sandtray work, Hollow may support exploration of grief and loss, attachment wounds, heartbreak, emotional emptiness, loneliness, trauma, relationships, and the complicated experience of carrying love and pain at the same time.
