I Can't Hear You

An ear closed off—blocked, protected, or perhaps overwhelmed. This piece holds the tension between what is spoken and what is received, where something is no longer able—or willing—to come through.

There is a sense of boundary here. Of shutting out, tuning out, or reaching a limit. Whether from overload, protection, or refusal, this piece carries the weight of what cannot be heard.

In sandtray work, this piece may represent boundaries, selective listening, or emotional overwhelm. It can also hold themes of disconnection, protection, or the need to quiet outside voices in order to hear what is within.
