A watchful presence that never fully rests. This piece captures the tension between exhaustion and awareness—the body longing for stillness while the mind remains awake.

With the eye held open and guarded, there is a sense of vigilance, of something that cannot or will not shut down. It carries the weight of restless nights, heightened awareness, and the space where thoughts linger longer than they should.

In sandtray work, Insomnia may represent hypervigilance, anxiety, or the inability to rest. It can also hold themes of awareness, protection, and what remains seen—even in the dark.
