Mended Heart

Mended Heart represents a heart that has been hurt, but not discarded. The anatomical heart bears visible wounds held together with stitches, honoring the reality that some experiences leave marks even after we have begun putting the pieces back together.

The stitches do not erase what happened. Instead, they can represent the work of tending to what has been wounded—with care, patience, forgiveness, love, and gentleness. Mending does not require returning to who we were before; sometimes it means learning how to carry what has happened while continuing forward.

In sandtray work, Mended Heart may represent heartbreak, grief, trauma, forgiveness, self-compassion, repair, resilience, recovery, relationships, or the ongoing process of putting oneself back together after painful experiences.
